Two men accused of abduction and assault to severe injury over New Year's Day attack near Highland town

Two men have appeared in court accused of abduction and assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement in connection with an attack which took place near a Highland town.

Two men - aged 30 and 21 - were taken to Raigmore Hospital Inverness for treatment following the incident at a property in Pitgrudy, just north of Dornoch in Sutherland, on New Year’s Day.

On Tuesday Ryan Urquhart, 20, and Thomas Easton, 33, appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court each facing the same two charges and made no plea and were remanded in custody.

The first charge alleges abduction, assault to injury and permanent disfigurement and robbery and the second charge alleges abduction, assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

The pair, both from Tain, are expected to appear in court again within the next eight days.

Police were called to the Pitgrudy area on New Year’s Day and blocked off access to the property following the incident.
