Two jailed for Edinburgh housebreaking

Jordan Skachill ,22, from Royston Mains in Edinburgh, received a sentence of three years imprisonment after he pled guilty to 10 offences – five domestic housebreakings and five thefts of motor vehicles in the west of Edinburgh.

He carried out his crimes over a two week period from 9th to 23rd September 2016.

Charlie Gordon ,26, from Loganlea Place, Edinburgh was also jailed for two years after pleading guilty to 11 offences, including three housebreakings, theft, dangerous driving, disqualified driving and driving without insurance.

His offences were carried out between 7th April and 30th June in the Niddrie and city centre areas of the city.

Giving his reaction to the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Barry Roebuck, of Gayfield Square Police Station, said: “The custodial terms handed out to these two men stand as testimony to some excellent police work and sends a clear message that we will do everything in our power to trace and arrest those who are involved in this criminal activity.

“Housebreaking can often have a devastating impact on the victims and arresting those involved in this crime remains one of our top priorities.

“There are a number of steps that occupiers can take to try and reduce their chances of falling victim to housebreakers such as using light timer switches and ensuring doors and windows are properly secured.
