The find was made by officers on the A95 at Marypark, near Elgin, Moray, on Tuesday.

Police said the cannabis resin was found as part of an “intelligence-led operation”.

Two men, aged 34 and 23, have been charged in connection with the recovery and are due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a 42-year-old man was arrested after £28,000 of cocaine was found in Edinburgh on Monday.

Police made the discovery at a property in Morrison Street.

Detective Inspector Alan O’Brien said: “This recovery has delivered a serious blow to organised crime in Edinburgh and should serve as a reminder to anyone involved in the production and supply of illegal drugs that we will do everything in our power to ensure you are swiftly brought before the courts.

“I’m delighted that as a result of our investigation we have successfully prevented thousands of pounds worth cocaine from reaching our streets.

“We remain committed to tackling drug crime in the city and I encourage anyone with information relating to crimes of this nature to please call us on 101. All information will be treated sensitively and discreetly.
