Three arrested after £250k worth of drugs recovered in Greenock

Police have seized £250,000 worth of heroin, cocaine and cannabis following early-morning drugs raids in Greenock.

Three people have been arrested following Tuesday's operation.

Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Serious and Organised Crime Team, assisted by local uniform officers, executed search warrants at five separate addresses in the Larkfield area of Greenock.

During searches of two properties, heroin, cocaine and cannabis worth an estimated street value of £250,000 were discovered, as well as a five-figure sum of cash.

Police have carried out a series of drugs raids in Greenock.

Two woman, aged 31 and 16, and a 56-year-old man were arrested and enquiries are continuing.

Smaller amounts of controlled drugs were recovered in two of the other properties and two men, aged 38 and 60, will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.

Area Commander, Chief Inspector Paul Cameron, said: “This has been a very successful operation which highlights our dedication to tackling drugs activity within the Greenock area.

“Drugs can have a devastating impact on communities and local officers work alongside specialist teams on a daily basis to deter and detect this type of criminality.

“I hope today’s outcome sends a clear message that drugs have no place here.”

Detective Inspector Robert Bowie from Renfrewshire and Inverclyde’s Serious and Organised Crime team said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for engaging with us throughout this operation. Their support has been absolutely vital and I would continue to encourage anyone with concerns about drugs activity in their area to pass this information on to the police.
