St Thomas' Hospital: Armed police lockdown London hospital after 'security alert' reported

Westminster Bridge was closed and St Thomas’ Hospital was locked down by armed police during incident.

Reports from London press said that Lambeth Palace Road was also closed and police were stopping pedestrians from entering the area.

A tweet from Lambeth Police said: “Police are dealing with a security alert at St Thomas’ Hospital, SE1. We will provide further info when known.”

Eyewitnesses reported that staff and patients were stopped from entering or leaving the hospital.

An updated message from Lambeth Police has said: “The security alert at St Thomas’ Hospital is being stood down. We are in the process of removing cordons.”
