DLA Piper, Skyscanner, the University of Edinburgh Business School and Larbert High School have all fielded teams in the Edinburgh heat of this year’s Dragons’ Glen entrepreneurial challenge.
Each team has been tasked with developing a fundraising idea to turn an investment of £500 into a profit of £5,000 or more, and this week pitched their ideas to a panel of “dragons”. Ideas included novelty socks, a giant board game, an Edinburgh-inspired run and seasonal crafts fairs.
Paul Mc Keown, senior corporate fundraiser at Children 1st, said: “The dragons have been really impressed by the variety of ideas the teams have pitched to them and this year’s challenge will without doubt be the most successful Dragons’ Glen to date.”
Dragons’ Glen launched in 2012 and 17 teams are participating across Scotland, with pitches taking place in Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness and Glasgow.
Each team will be supported by a dragon, who will mentor them during the five-month challenge to bring their ideas to life and raise money for Children 1st, Scotland’s national children’s charity.
