A seven-year-old girl has died after being rescued from the River Braan in Perth.

Emergency services were called after reports of two people in the water near Ossian’s Cave at The Hermitage in Dunkeld, at 6:50pm on Monday.

The girl, and a 26-year-old woman were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.

The seven-year-old was pronounced dead in hospital.

Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers said their inquiries are ongoing, and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “ A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
