Search under way for missing walker in Glencoe

POLICE have appealed for any sightings of a 39-year-old man who has not returned from a hike in the Glencoe area at the weekend.

Edward Davies, who is from the Hampshire area, has not been in contact with family or friends since planning a trek in Lochaber on Sunday.

The alarm was raised on Wednesday.

Searches by Glencoe Mountain Rescue team took place last night with further searches underway in the area.

They are being assisted by Oban Mountain Rescue Team, police officers, sniffer dogs and a search and rescue Coastguard helicopter.

Mr Davies has access to a white Toyota Aygo car, which was parked near to the Glencoe visitor centre.

He is described as white, 5ft 11in in height, of slim build with cropped dark brown hair which is longer on top and is likely to be wearing a blue waterproof jacket.
