Scottish pub closes temporarily after fire deliberately started on premise

Bookings at the pub will be cancelled until further notice.

A pub has been forced to close after a fire was deliberately started on site.

The Redbrae, in Kirkintilloch, announced on social media over the weekend that all bookings have been cancelled due to the incident.

In a post on Facebook the team said: “Good morning everyone. Due to unforeseen circumstances the pub will be closed until further notice. If you have a booking, it will be cancelled, please accept our apologies in this matter,

Regulars and local residents have since reacted to the pub closing saying they are “devastated” damage has been caused after staff put a lot of work into the building to make it a safe environment post-lockdown.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police were made aware of a fire at a pub on Redbrae Road, Kirkintilloch, around 1.45am on Sunday, 2 August, 2020.

"Officers attended alongside the fire service. Nobody was injured.

"The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing."
