Robbers target festive fayre in butchers’ shop

Thousands of pounds worth of Christmas dinners have been stolen by thieves who broke into a family-run butchers and made off with turkeys and other festive treats.

Graham Collie, who runs A&G Collie butchers with his wife Annie in Kemnay, Aberdeenshire, said poultry, beef, lamb and venison had been taken during the break-in, which happened some time between 8pm on Thursday and 5am yesterday.

Mr Collie said: “It’s such a nasty thing to do, particularly at this time of the year. They took a lot of our Christmas orders as well as money.”

Grampian Police have asked the public to be aware of any “unofficial sources” selling large quantities of meat.
