A dog has died after being hit by a car that did not stop, during a late-night incident in Grangemouth.

Police are investigating after the Inchyra Roundabout incident on Friday evening, which is understood to involve an eight-month old puppy.

The dog was said to have slipped its lead before being struck by the car just after 11pm.

The vehicle did not stop at the scene and continued onwards.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward to help with the investigation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of an incident where a dog was struck by a car at Inchyra Roundabout in Grangemouth around 11.10pm on Friday, 19 February."The vehicle did not stop at the scene and the dog has since succumbed to its injuries."Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
