Publicity drive to jog witness memories

DETECTIVES leading the eight-week police investigation into the triple murder of the Sharkey family are hoping a major publicity drive will encourage witnesses to come forward.

Strathclyde Police have a dedicated team of around 70 officers working full-time on the investigation, and have collated more than 800 witness statements to date.

There has been extensive media coverage of the case, and a £10,000 Crimestoppers reward is available for anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

Police are working with the producers of BBC’s Crimewatch to produce a painstaking reconstruction of the events back in July. It is understood that the reconstruction will be aired nationwide in the next fortnight.

The force has also issued CCTV footage captured in the streets surrounding the scene of the Scott Court blaze. Officers have identified two individuals captured on cameras near the Sharkey household. Detectives are keen to trace one other potential key witness seen in John Street at around 5am.
