Pollokshields police search for suspects after BMW torched

A BMW 1 Series was deliberately set on fire in Glasgow’s Southside, detectives say.

Police officers were called to Maxwell Drive in Pollokshields at around 10pm on Wednesday (April 22) after reports that a car had been torched there.

Det Sgt Alan Ferguson of Cathcart Police said: “There was no one in the vehicle at the time and luckily no one was injured by the fire,” but insisted that those responsible had to be caught.

“We have been carrying out enquiries in the area of Maxwell Drive, and gathering CCTV footage to find out more information on this fire and to trace whoever is responsible.

“I am asking people in Maxwell Drive around the time the fire was set, who witnessed anything that may help our investigation to contact us as soon as possible.

“Anyone with information, or anyone driving in the area who has dash-cam footage is asked to phone Cathcart Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 4139 of April 22.

“Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained,” he added.
