Police probe Snapchat video of attack near Highland town which left two men in hospital

Police are investigating an attack near a Highland town which was filmed and shared on the social media platform Snapchat.

The assault took place inside a property in Pitgrudy, an area just north of Dornoch in Sutherland, on New Year’s Day and resulted in at least one of the victims suffering lacerations.

Detective Inspector Craig Still, of CID in Inverness, said: "Officers are following a positive line of enquiry after two men aged 30 and 21-years-old were assaulted in Pitgrudy on Friday, 1 January.

“They were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment and later released.

“We are aware of the video that is circulating on social media and inquiries into the matter are ongoing."

It is understood a Snapchat video showing the New Year’s Day attack lasted for about three minutes and has been shared widely in the local area.

Police also blocked off access to the property in the aftermath of the incident on Friday.
