Police launch attempted murder hunt following Glasgow shootings

Two streets in Greater Glasgow were closed off by police today after shots were fired in separate violent incidents.

CID and forensic officers examined a stretch of Langmuirhead Road, a semi-rural route in the east of the city between Robroyston and Lenzie, after a firearm was discharged in the direction of a car at 8.50pm on Thursday.

The driver was uninjured. Police are treating the incident as attempted murder.

Later that evening several shots were aimed at the window of a flat in Kenley Road, a residential street in Renfrew, at around 11.50pm. No one was injured, but detectives believe the occupants of the property were the intended target.

Police said extensive investigations were on-going but added there was nothing to link the two incidents “at this time”.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information relating to either incident to contact them via the 101 telephone service.
