An appeal has been launched after a 35-year-old woman was assaulted by a man and a woman in a Smart Ways shop on Muirhouse Road in Motherwell on Wednesday, May 13.

The incident occurred around 7.45pm, and the victim was taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment, while the man and the woman who assaulted her left the scene in a white Ford Fiesta car.

The male suspect is in his early 20s, described as slim built with short, strawberry blond hair and was wearing black shorts, a black jumper and black trainers.

The female suspect is also around 20 years old, around 5 foot 4 inches tall and a slim build, with shoulder length brown hair, wearing a light coloured jumper, blue jeans and black trainers.

Detective Constable Graeme Stoddart, of Wishaw CID, said: "I am appealing to anyone who was in the Muirhouse Road area around this time and saw any suspicious activity or people matching that description to get in touch.

“If you were driving in the area and have a dash-cam, I would ask you to please check back and see if there is any footage that may assist us in our investigation."

Those with information are asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 3506 of May 13.
