Police investigation launched after body of a woman found in Scottish forest

A police investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was found in a Scottish forest.

Emergency services were called to the woodland area in Aberdeenshire just before 11am on Thursday where the body of a woman was found in a car.

Her identity is not yet known and police remain at the scene in Countesswells woods, west of Aberdeen city.

Police Scotland confirm that they received reports at 10.50am.

They said that emergency services remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.
