Police investigate alleged racial abuse and assault following Rangers and Slavia Prague football match at Ibrox

Police in Glasgow are investigating incidents of alleged racial abuse and a reported assault following the match between Rangers and Slavia Prague at Ibrox on Thursday.

Police received a report of an assault following the football match on Thursday, March 18 at Ibrox in Glasgow.

The assault also included alleged racial abuse, Police Scotland have now confirmed.

Officers are liaising with both Rangers and Slavia Prague football clubs and enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: “We can confirm we are investigating incidents of alleged racial abuse and a reported assault following the match between Rangers and Slavia Prague at Ibrox on Thursday, 18 March, 2021. Officers are liaising with both clubs and enquiries are continuing.”

The news comes after police arrested and charged a 17-year-old boy in connection with an offensive social media post aimed at Alfredo Morelos during the Celtic v Rangers SPFL match on Saturday, March 21.
