Police cordon off Sighthill pharmacy after man stabbed

Officers including dog units were scrambled to Calder Road, Sighthill, shortly after 9am.
A 38-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary with a chest wound.

Hide AdWitnesses reported the MacKinnon Pharmacy cordoned off with police standing guard.


“There’s about eight police vehicles,” said one witness. “Clearly something has happened at the pharmacy because the shutters are down.
“You can’t get through the underpass either on Calder Road.”
A forensics officer was spotted inside the police cordon taking photos of the scene.

Hide AdThe Evening News understands the man was stabbed with a weapon other than a knife.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Edinburgh are investigating following a serious assault in Calder Road at around 9.20am on Monday 10th December.
“A 38-year-old man sustained a puncture wound to his chest and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he continues to be treated.
“His injury is not believed to be life threatening.
“Inquiries are ongoing in relation to this incident.”
