Police break up anti-lockdown protesters in London

The group of around 40 protesters were reported to be spreading 5G conspiracy theories.

Police in London have made a number of arrests after breaking up an anti-lockdown protest.

The 40-strong group of protesters carried banners with slogans including “no consent” and “we will not be tricked, tracked and trapped” near Westminster Bridge in central London.

According to a Sky News employee, who witnessed the protest, some of the group made reference to baseless 5G conspiracy theories - suggesting the phone internet masts were linked to the spread of coronavirus.

The 40-strong group of protesters carried banners with slogans including “no consent” and “we will not be tricked, tracked and trapped” near Westminster Bridge in central London.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said its officers had been called to the scene after people had gathered in breach of coronavirus regulations in Lambeth Walk, near Westminster Bridge.

"A number of people were arrested and fixed penalty notices were issued," the force said.
