Police appoint new Area Inspector for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth

This follows the departure of Inspector Phil Rose who has taken up a new position within the force.

Inspector MacLeod has been a police officer for 17 having started his career in West Dunbartonshire.

In 2010 he moved to Lanarkshire to become a Sergeant in the Pro-Active Crime Team at Wishaw and in 2017 was promoted to Inspector for the response police shift and stationed at Coatbridge.

At Cumbernauld he oversees a problem solving team of one sergeant and 10 officers and has already identified several key issues in the area.

Inspector MacLeod said: “I’ve noted a common theme of complaints about speeding drivers, while acquisitive crime, in particular theft of and thefts from vehicles has been another notable trend.

“Drug misuse, coupled with drug supply is an issue which though far from unique to our community is nonetheless a concern and something we continually seek intelligence on so that we can make efforts to disrupt.

“As always we rely on the input and feedback from our communities and I’m keen to hear from local residents whether that is through good working relationships with local councillors, officers attending community council meetings or by direct communication.”
