Officers called after conductor assaulted on board Edinburgh-bound train

Enquiries are ongoing following the assault of a conductor on board an Edinburgh-bound train.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to Dunfermline Town railway station in Dunfermline, Fife, at around half past 7 on Friday evening following reports that a conductor had been assaulted on the 1847 Glenrothes to Edinburgh Waverley ScotRail service.

The exact details of the assault are not yet known, but it is understood the conductor was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A BTP spokesperson said enquiries into the incident are still ongoing.

They said: "Officers were called to Dunfermline Town railway station at 19:32 on Friday 13 November following a report that a train conductor had been assaulted on board a train service from Glenrothes to Edinburgh Waverley.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
