Murdered youth’s grandfather dies

THE grandfather of murdered teenager Jack Doyle has died three days after learning of his grandson’s death.

Jack Doyle snr had also had to endure the agony of dealing with his murder of his daughter, who was killed when she was 16.

He died at the Ardgowan Hospice in Greenock on Friday.

Police are hunting his grandson’s killer after the youth’s body was found in Hope Street, Greenock, last Tuesday morning.

The murder brought more anguish to his family after the murder of Elaine Doyle, who was killed in Greenock as she walked home from a disco. The case remains unsolved.

In June last year Mr Doyle spoke at a press conference on the 25th anniversary of Elaine’s death. He said: “The passage of time teaches you to cope with the heartbreak but, as any parent who has lost a child will know, the pain Maureen and I feel on a daily basis is as real as when we first received that awful news.”
