Man who broke into Montrose property and threatened to throw faeces at police jailed

A man who broke into a house in Montrose and threatened to throw his own faeces at police officers after taking a cocktail of drugs has been jailed for nine months.

Dale Smith (31) appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court on Thursday charged entering into a property in Montrose,

After being thrown out of the house by the occupant, the accused then stole a bracelet and pen from Buth Tabhartas on Montrose High Street.

He was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee as officers believed he had taken tablets, believed to be drugs,

Depute fiscal Jill Drummond told the court at about 12.30pm on December 16 Smith broke into a household in Queens Close.

“He told the man he was hungry and was looking for food.

Mr Smith pleaded guilty.

He was represented by Nick Markowski

Mr Markowski told the court the accused had moved to Scotland from England to “break the cycle of offending”

He said: “Mr Smith says he has no recolection of what happened.

“He xxx that he had gone to a party in Brechin

“He believes he took valium,

The man whose house he broke into clearly wasn’t a shrinking violet.

“He said he entered the house because he thought the man was selling something.

Sherriff Murray sentenced Mr Smith to nine months in jail, including the time he was already spent in custody since Decembers.
