Police are appealing for information after a car crash which took place at 9.20pm yesterday evening.

The car, a grey Ford C-Max, collided at low speed with a large bin and a parked silver Ford Fiesta on Spottiswoode Road in Marchmont.

The driver was a 56-year-old male who was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary before being declared dead.

Inspector Roger Park, Edinburgh Road Policing said: ‘Officers are carrying out enquiries at the moment to trace a route for the car prior to the collision, however, we would be keen to hear from anyone who has not already spoken to officers, who saw the car in Spottiswoode Road prior to the crash, or any information that may assist with the enquiry to contact us via 101.

‘Please quote reference number 2788 of March 29 2020 when calling.’

No one else was injured in the incident.
