A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a collision with a woman and her dog.

The 21-year-old was walking her dog on the B742 between Mossblown and Annbank in Ayrshire when she was struck by a red Vauxhall Astra.

The incident took place at around 3.50pm on Saturday.

The woman was taken to Ayr Hospital, while her dog died at the scene.

Police Scotland have said a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
