Man charged after fatal South Lanarkshire shooting

A 26-year-old man died after the shooting earlier this month.

A man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in a South Lanarkshire town.

Graham Williamson was in a back garden in Caithness Street, Blantyre, when he was shot on August 17.

He managed to make his way on to the street, where he was helped by members of the public until an ambulance arrived.

Police said a 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The 26-year-old was taken to University Hospital Wishaw but died a short time later.
