Man charged after death of 50-year-old in Caithness

He will appear at the Sheriff Court later today.

A 60-year-old man has been arrested and charged by police in Caithness after the death of another man earlier this week.

The 50-year-old victim died from his injuries on Tuesday, June 16, in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Three days earlier, on Saturday, June 13, both men were allegedly involved in an incident at a house on Barrogill Street in Wick, at around 9:30pm.

Police have now arrested and charged the 60-year-old in connection with the death.

He will appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Thursday, June 18.

Detective Inspector Craig Still said: "A police presence will remain in the area whilst enquiries continue and I would like to thank residents for their patience during this time.

"Anyone with information about the incident who has not yet spoken to police is asked to contact 101 quoting reference number 3874 of June 13 or alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 5551111 if you wish to remain anonymous."
