Leith assault may be linked to hate crime


A 33-year-old man has been arrested in Edinburgh after an assault police believe is connected to an earlier hate crime.
The assault took place at a bus stop in Great Junction Street in Leith at about 3:45pm on Thursday.
Police said the 18-year-old victim was uninjured.
The earlier hate crime involved a man who was subject to racial abuse as he was believed to be boarding the number 22 Lothian Bus.
PC Christopher Paul said: “This type of behaviour is absolutely unacceptable.”
