Joanna Cherry: Man arrested and charged in relation to 'vicious' threat
A man has been arrested and charged for allegedly sending threats to SNP MP Joanna Cherry.
The Edinburgh South West MP contacted police after a “vicious threat” was made to her personal safety when she posted a message on Twitter saying that she had been “sacked” from her party’s front bench team at Westminster.
A police spokeswoman confirmed on Thursday that a 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to the alleged threats.
In a message on Twitter, Ms Cherry said: “Pleased to advise that Police Scotland have arrested and charged a man in relation to the threats I received on Monday night. I’d like to thank them for their swift action. But this is not ok. Other enquiries are ongoing.”
