The Edinburgh South West MP contacted police after a “vicious threat” was made to her personal safety when she posted a message on Twitter saying that she had been “sacked” from her party’s front bench team at Westminster.

A police spokeswoman confirmed on Thursday that a 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to the alleged threats.
