Five-month-old baby in critical condition after incident in Fife

A FIVE-MONTH old baby is in a critical condition in hospital following an incident at a flat in Fife at the weekend.

The baby was rushed by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh after a 999 call to the emergency services.

It is believed the infant suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police cordoned off the flat at West High Street, Buckhaven, Leven, at around 12.30pm on Sunday.

Police forensic officers were seen examining the area throughout Sunday and Monday.

A Police Scotland spokesman said in a statement today: “Police in Fife were called to an address on West High Street, Leven, around 12.30pm on Sunday 14 February following a report of concern for a child.

“A five-month-old girl was taken to the Sick Kids in Edinburgh where she remains in a critical condition.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
