Fire service: risk of wildfires across Scotland is ‘high’

The warning comes as firefighters continue to battle blazes across the country.

The risk of wildfires developing across Scotland is high, according to Scottish Fire and Rescue (SFAR).

Fire chiefs reiterated their warning today, telling the public that the wildfire warning “remains in place” across the country throughout the spell of good weather over coming days.

Crews have been battling numerous wildfire outbreaks in regions across Scotland in recent weeks.

Highlighting areas of particular concern, SFAR said the risk of outbreaks in the North and East of Scotland was “high”, and that the risk in the South West and South of the country was “very high”.

The government agency asked the public to “Please take care in rural areas”.
