Drug supplier gets 40 months

POLICE seized a drug consignment that could have fetched £322,000 on the streets, the High Court in Edinburgh heard yesterday.

Adam McLoughlin, 25, had brought 1.7kg of heroin to Edinburgh in an attempt to pay off a debt to loan sharks, said Edward Targowski QC, defending.

Another package containing a mixture of paracetamol and caffeine, used to “cut” or dilute heroin, was also found in the Vauxhall McLoughlin was driving when he was stopped by police on the city bypass on 11 June.

McLoughlin, of Liverpool, was jailed for 40 months after admitting being concerned in the supply of the drug.
