'Don't ruin Christmas': Pub owner releases CCTV after Santa's boots stolen

A landlord has issued an appeal to track down the person who stole part of a giant Santa decoration from outside his pub.

The Green Haddington was decorated with Father Christmas carrying a sack of presents and climbing over the pub’s sign into a window.

But just after 5:30am today (Saturday) a thief grabbed Santa and tore his boots off – with the pub then having to take the entire decoration down.

Owner Kurt Edwards posted CCTV footage of the incident in a bid to find the man responsible and get Santa’s boots back.

"Don’t ruin Christmas for everyone – give the boots back,” Mr Edwards said.

Mr Edwards added: “You’re trying to do something good for the community and put a little smile on the kids’ faces… and some idiot has to ruin it for everyone.

"It’s disappointing that someone feels that they have to do that. It’s not been the greatest year. To do that is not nice.”
