Case dropped against murder-claim driver

A TAXI driver accused of lying that a teenager had been murdered had his case dropped yesterday.

John Ross, 58, of Bishopbriggs, was alleged to have made false allegations to detectives investigating the final hours of Dean Geary, 19, who was found dead with head injuries on a country road near Drymen, Stirlingshire.

Ross had been scheduled to appear for trial yesterday at Stirling Sheriff Court accused of wasting police time, but the Crown opted not to call the case.

Mr Geary, an MoD administrator, had been out with friends in Glasgow on the night before his death. His body was found on 7 February last year on the A811 Drymen-Gartocharn road, around eight miles from his home in Alexandria, Dunbartonshire. A police investigation concluded he died in an accident.
