Cardross crash: man arrested following fatal crash which killed cyclist

A man has been arrested following a fatal collision that left a cyclist dead.

Colin McCourt, from Dumbarton, was cycling along the A814, half a mile west of Cardross, Argyll and Bute, when he was hit by a car about 4:40pm on Tuesday.

Emergency services attended, but the 40-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 44-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the incident and he appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “A number of vehicles stopped to provide assistance and police are asking any of those witnesses, who have yet to speak to police, to contact them.

"In particular, officers are appealing for anyone with dashcam to check their footage as it may have captured footage which could assist our enquiries.

“The road was closed for several hours as investigators conducted enquiries.

“Anyone with information is asked to call road policing officers via 101, quoting incident number 2367 of November 10, 2020."
