Bernese Mountain dog who 'vanished' during trek in Scottish Highlands found safe and well
On Monday morning, a search party went out on the Glencoe hills immediately south of Clachaig hunting for Shanti, who had disappeared near the summit of Sgor Na U-Ulaidh.
Owner Mike Nairn, who runs Eagle Brae, a holiday log cabin business near Beauly in the Scottish Highlands, said two-year-old Shanty disappeared from his side on Sunday afternoon while they were out walking.

Hide AdWithin minutes of letting her off a lead to have a drink of water near the summit of Sgor na h-Ulaidh, she was suddenly nowhere to be seen.
Speaking to The Scotsman earlier on Monday, while 2,000ft up a mountain in the area where Shanty went missing, a worried Mike said: “How a 40kg dog can vanish from a mountain top I just don’t know.”
Mercifully, Shanty was found and safe and well on Monday afternoon.
A relieved Mike told the Scotsman: “She was found by a local down in the glen to the west of the ridge where she was last seen yesterday.

Hide Ad"She’s exhausted, so I think she’s put in some miles over the last 24 hours.”
Shanty is a bit of a celebrity pet in her local area, according to Mike.
"Thousands of people who come and stay at the log cabins yearly know who she is and love seeing her, and she’s popular with people in the area,” he said.
