Barshaw Park incident: Boy, 11, injured in Paisley in gang attack

An 11-year-old boy has been injured in an unprovoked attack by a gang of youths at a Paisley beauty spot.

The incident happened at Barshaw Park on Friday afternoon at around 4.05pm, when the boy was set upon by several youths.

It is understood that the boy was with a family member when the attack happened, with the suspects then running off after the boy was knocked down.

As a result of the attack, the boy was left with facial injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.05pm on Friday, 2 April, 2021, we received a report that an 11-year-old boy had been assaulted by a group of youths in Barshaw Park, Paisley.

“The boy sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment. Enquiries are ongoing to trace those involved.

“Anyone with information that could assist with our enquiries is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 2569 of 2 April.”
