Ayr attempted murder: Police launch investigation after supermarket attack

A 35-year-old man was assaulted in an Aldi car park.

Police in Ayr have started an attempted murder investigation after a man was attacked in a supermarket car park.

The 35-year-old was assaulted in the car park of the Aldi on Main Street at 10.45pm on Sunday.

He was taken to Ayr hospital for treatment, where his condition is described as stable.

The suspect is described as having a medium build, 5ft 9ins, around 30, with short brown hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing a red jacket.

Chief Inspector Brian Anderson, area commander at South Ayrshire, said: "Inquiries are currently ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

"I would urge anyone who has any information that could assist with our investigation to get in contact with police.

"There will be an increased police presence in the area and if you have any concerns I would encourage you to speak to officers."
