Attempted murder charges after Pilton attack

TWO men have appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an attack on a Chinese takeaway owner.

James Hogg, 24, and Kieran Hutcheon, 19, appeared separately in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court before Sheriff Richard Clark today in connection with an alleged attack on 37-year old Jie Yu, in West Pilton Park in the city last week.

They were charged with attempted murder and the theft of a car. The offences were said to have been racially aggravated. No plea or declaration was made and the cases were continued for further inquiry. Both were remanded in custody.

On Monday of this week, 18-year old Gary Reid appeared on petition on similar charges. He was remanded in custody.
