Ambulance accused in court

A MAN has appeared in court charged with stealing a fast response ambulance for sick children, which police found abandoned and burned out in Paisley.

The vehicle – a Subaru Forrester worth £25,000 – was stolen from a medic’s home in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, on 18 September. It was later found on waste ground in Paisley’s Ferguslie Park area.

The 4x4 vehicle was bought with charitable funding and was used for ferrying sick children faster than a conventional ambulance.

George Halliday, 35, from Johnstone, made no declaration during a short appearance at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday.
