23-year old dies after disturbance in Greenock

A YOUNG man has died following a disturbance outside a block of flats in Greenock.

The 23-year-old, who has not yet been identified, was found seriously injured on the town’s Belville Street at around 11.20pm on Wednesday. He died a short time later.

Police are treating the death as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At 11.20pm on Wednesday, police attended Belville Street in Greenock following reports of a disturbance.

“On arrival a 23-year-old man was found with serious injuries. He died at the scene.

“Inquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with any information can contact police on 101.”
