13-year-old boy faced verbal racist abuse from one member of a group of teenage boys on bikes in Kinross

A 13-year-old boy was subjected to verbal racist abuse from one of three teenage boys on bikes in Kinross this week.

The 13 year-old boy was verbally assaulted with racist slurs near Loch Leven Centre in Kinross on Tuesday afternoon, March 2, Police Scotland has confirmed.

The perpetrator was one of three boys in their mid-teens who were passing the 13 year-old on bikes, according to the police.

The bicycle-riding youths have not been described, however, Police Scotland has commented that one of the bikes was bright blue and another one was white.

After hurling the abuse, the boys are said to have ridden off on their bikes.

Enquiries to identify the youths involved are currently underway as Police Scotland say that hate crime in any form will not be tolerated.

Police have asked members of the public who have any information regarding the incident to come forward.

Sergeant Kevin Wilkie from Perth and Kinross Police Station said: "We have been checking CCTV and making local enquiries in an effort to identify the youths involved.

"The incident happened opposite a local school and near a convenience store so I am sure there would have been people in the area at the time.

"If you saw what happened or the three youths on the bikes, then please contact police."Hate crime in any form will not be tolerated by police so we would encourage anyone with information to call Police Scotland via 101 quoting reference number 2294 of 2 March 2021."
