Andy Murray serves up investment via crowdfunding platform

Scots tennis ace Andy Murray is making five early-stage investments in British entrepreneurs through equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs.

He is pumping undisclosed sums into Oppo Ice Cream, travel ticket subscription service CommuterClub, peer-to-peer lender Landbay, global film streaming platform We are Colony, and Readbug, which has been dubbed the “Netflix for magazines”.

The tennis champion plans to make further investments on the platform as the year continues, as part of a “strategic relationship” with Seedrs.

He said: “Giving recognition and support to British entrepreneurs is important to me, especially those who are the driving force behind growth-focused businesses.

“Every one of these entre-preneurs is inspirational and dedicated to their business and I’m excited to have invested in their team’s vision and work ethic.”
