Alex Salmond show on Russia Today to continue despite allegations

Broadcaster Russia Today has confirmed that the TV show hosted by Alex Salmond will continue despite an ongoing investigation into allegations of misconduct by the former First Minister.

The controversial Kremlin-backed channel has stuck by the ex-SNP leader as he continues a legal battle with the Scottish Government over how it has handled complaints of harassment against him.

Alex Salmond presents a weekly show on Russia Today alongside former MP Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh.

He has attracted criticism from across the political spectrum for agreeing to the presenting role at the channel, which has been slammed for perceived bias towards the Putin regime.

Mr Salmond is currently under investigation after the Scottish Government revealed it had received two complaints of harassment involving the former First Minister earlier this year.

A Russia Today spokesperson said: “This is a personal issue for Mr Salmond and all enquiries should be directed to him. The Alex Salmond Show will continue to air on RT at this time.”

The Alex Salmond show was censured by Ofcom after being found to be in breach of the regulator’s rules.
