Dean McKenzie, 23, ran from the court building, evading security staff, after appearing on a charge of threatening behaviour.
McKenzie, from Aberdeen, had pled not guilty to the charge and had been remanded in custody by Sheriff Graeme Napier when he bolted from the courtroom yesterday afternoon.
A spokesman for the security firm G4S said: “We can confirm that a detainee escaped custody after an appearance at Aberdeen Sheriff Court. A full investigation has been initiated by G4S.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland can confirm a 23 year-old man has been taken into custody following an incident at Aberdeen Sheriff Court during the afternoon of Monday 28 October. Enquiries were carried out and the man was arrested and charged during the early morning of Tuesday.”
She added: “The man is anticipated to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Wednesday.”
