Many of the most photogenic walks in Scotland take in the banks of lochs, with stunning views over mountains, ruined castles and forests – all reflected perfectly in the water on a still day.

9. Loch Muick
In a remote location 18 miles east of Braemar, Loch Muick offers a long, but mainly flat, circular walk of around eight miles, with stunning scenery all the way. Photo: Canva
10. Loch Venacher
It's possible to walk all the way around Loch Venachar, near Callander, with a stop at Venachar Lochside Cafe for lunch or a coffee. The route is around 11 miles, but there is also a shorter 4.5 mile walk on the south bank for those with less time. Photo: Canva
11. Loch Affric
In the middle of the wilderness of the Highlands, about 25 miles southwest of Beauly, the hike around Loch Affric is only for the more committed walkers, being around 11 miles and taking around five hours to finish.
