5. Rosslyn Chapel
Around half an hour's drive south of Edinburgh, Rosslyn Chapel, less than half an hour south of Edinburgh, gained worldwide fame as one of the key locations in Dan Brown's bestselling book The Da Vinci Code. 7. The Chocolatarium
One of the most popular attractions in Scotland according to online reviewers, Edinburgh's Chocolatarium, just off the city's Royal Mile, offers fun 90 minute chocolate tours explaining how chocolate is made. 8. Fife fossils
It's amazing what you can find on a day out on the Fife coast. The beach next to Seafield Tower (pictured), in Kirkcaldy, is littered with fossil remains of sea creatures including corals, crinoids and even sharks' teeth. Head to Crail for giant millipede tracks and fossilised tree stumps, or enjoy a walk on the coast at Kingsbarns while looking out for perfectly preserved tree roots, leaves and shells. | National World
