The 2026 John Lewis Christmas advert is here, arriving just in time to tug on viewer’s heartstrings - and encourage them to hit the shops.
The highly anticipated advert follows Gloria, played by BAFTA-winning actress Kristin Scott Thomas, who hasn’t a clue what to get her grandchildren for Christmas. She decides that cash is a safe bet before a toy dog, voiced by Paul Whitehouse, steers her right via an adventure in a tuktuk.
Called Gloria and Pickles, as is often the case the ad is soundtracked by a cover of a popular song - with this year seeing Sam Fender take on The Rolling Stones’ You Can’t Always Get What You Want.
John Lewis’ Christmas adverts have been a festive tradition in the UK for 20 years, dating back to 2007. As such, there is plenty of debate surrounding which is best.
As a reminder of those which came before, here are all 20 of John Lewis’ Christmas adverts, including this year’s. What is your favourite?

17. 2023 - Snapper: The Perfect Tree
A new piece of music, entitled 'Festa', was composed for 2023's advert and performed by Andrea Bocelli. Demonstrating that there's always room for new family festive traditions, a boy grows an unusual Christmas tree - an enormous monster Venus Flytrap. His family aren't too sure about Snapper but end up coming around to his unique attributes. | John Lewis

18. 2024 - The Gifting Hour
John Lewis' 2024 Christmas advert followed a woman frantically searching for a last minute present for her sister in their flagship Oxford Street store fifteen minutes before closing. While looking she falls through a rack of dresses beginning a journey through childhood memories of growing up together, with the advert ending as she meets her sister with a perfectly wrapped gift in hand. The advert features 'Sonnet' by Richard Ashcroft, a departure from previous years which often feature cover songs. | John Lewis/PA Wire

19. 2025 - Where Love Lives
Last year's John Lewis advert features the classic song 'Where Love Lives' by Alison Limerick. That's also the record a father finds under the Christmas tree in the mini movie. The music transports him back to the 90s of his youth, where he spots his distant teenage son in the crowd and the two make a much-needed tear-jerking connection. | Contributed

20. 2026 - Gloria and Pickles
Acclaimed 'Slow Horses' and 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' actress Kristin Scott Thomas stars in this year's festive advert. She plays a grandmother who enlists the help of a toy dog called Pickles (voiced by Paul Whitehouse from 'The Fast Show') to get the perfect present for her grandchildren. The music is a Sam Fender cver of The Rolling Stones' 'You Can't Always Get What You Want'. | Contributed
