13. The Doorstep Murder, 2004
In November 2004, an unsuspecting Alistair Wilson would breathe his last when he was shot dead on the doorstep of his home in Nairn by an unidentified man wearing a baseball cap. Curiously, the police investigation discovered that the handgun, found ditched in a street drain in town, was a Haenel Suhl Model 1 Schmeisser, meaning it was made in Germany between 1920 and 1945. Furthermore, the ammunition used in the gun was made between 1983 and 1993 by Sellier and Bellot in the Czech Republic. Almost twenty years later his murder remains unsolved as the police have yet to find the killer. Photo: Submitted
